 2012-Current Loot Rules
So as many of you have noticed, we've been rolling on loot in the past few raids. Now I'm trying to set up a list of rules/guidelines to help ensure loot goes to people who earn it. This will be our new loot system for those that are joining the guild. We no longer use DKP
First: Main Spec/Off specs
For each raid, every member can choose what spec they want to have as their "main spec" for loot rolling (even if it's different than the actual spec you end up raiding as). Main Spec rolls would always trump offspec rolls in all situations.
Second: Guild rank
We don't want to see initiates walking into raids and winning stuff such as Ashkandi, Lok'amir ect. over people that have been around for a long time and deserve that sort of loot. Therefore, a system based on guild ranks will attempt to reward people who show continuous dedication to the guild. Therefore the guild can be split into 4 ranks for determining loot.
Initiate Member Raider Veteran/Class Leader/Officers
If you're 2 ranks above someone else that rolls, you automatically beat them. Basically Veteran+ beats Members/Initiates on rolls automatically and Raiders beat initiates automatically. Keep in mind that the main spec/ off spec rule trumps this one except in very extreme cases. So if a DPS paladin Initiate wants Obsiadian edged blade but a Prot warrior raider also rolls, the initiate paladin will still get the weapon.
A note about Inactives: Inactives can roll on loot, but if anyone else with one of the aforementioned ranks also rolls, the person that's not inactive wins.
Legendary drops will be determined by the leadership.

 Re: 2012-Current Loot Rules
THIS IS AN IMPORTANT ADDITION TO THE NEW LOOT SYSTEM:
We will be using a modified version of the old Main and Alt toon system this guild used to employ.
From now on, all members will only have ONE character above the guild rank of Member and all other alts will remain at the member level. (Officers can have thier alts at officer, however their mains will be clearly marked and all alts will be counted as members for determining rolls)
This change is being implemented to solve a few issues:
1. Initiate Retention: I believe that if people have one character as their main, initiates will see that the loot system is more fair and that people's alts are not being awarded loot automatically over them just because they've been in the guild longer.
2. Establishing Mains: This seems obvious, but it has a lot to do with the third thing this change is supposed to help. The change will establish one main character for every member, and members will be expected to be raiding on their mains a decent amount of the time.
3. Toon Hopping/gear spreading: This rule should hopefully cut down on the amount of people bringing in 6 different toons for certain bosses and help speed up raids in doing so. It will also cause people to get better geared on their one main rather than spreading gear among alts so that when we have less people to do raids we have people geared enough to get it done.
4. Loot Complaints: This will hopefully cut down on the number of whispers I get from people bitching about gear and make the system more black and white.
It will be possible to switch mains in rare circumstances after discussing why you want to switch with the guild leadership and proving you're taking that toon seriously as your main by raiding on them as an alt multiple times should the guild leadership agree to give you the opportunity (Not needing any more gear on your main is not a valid reason to switch mains).
(We will talk with all the current members of the guild to determine which characters are mains and which will be alts to set up the system)

 Re: 2012-Current Loot Rules
Starting Wednesday 6/27/12 there will be two important changes to loot rules.
1. Limited Loot Council will be in effect on certain BiS items (no tier gear included). The items affected by this are listed below. This change is intended to reduce the amount of qq received when an item has to be master looted to someone (even though that clause has been in the rules Since Jan. 2012) by letting people know ahead of time that certain items will not always be open roll. This does not mean that every time these items drop we will always loot council them, it just means that we can and will if necessary. Should we determine it is necessary to loot council one of the items on this list, all of the present officers will vote on who receives the item or who can roll off for that item. Should an officer be in the running for an item, that officer will not get to vote for that item.
How to Apply for an item up for loot Council: The raid leader will link an item up for loot council and instead of asking people to roll, he will ask people to apply for the item by linking the item they would be replacing.
It should look something like this: Ragestarved: [Dark Edge of Insanity] APPLY Nichidam: [Greatsword of the Boar] Locta: [Barb of the Sand Reaver] Aereolus: [Skinning Knife]
Then the officers discuss and award the item to the player that gets it.
-- List -- Chromatically Tempered Sword Staff of the Shadow Flame Ring of Swarming Thought Maladath, Runed Blade of the black Flight Rejuvenating Gem Drake Fang Talisman Styleen's Impending Scarab Elementium Reinforced Bulwark Lok'amir Il Romathis Ashkandi, Greatsword of the Brotherhood Neltharion's tear Mish'undare Circlet of the Mind flayer Crul'Shurokh, Edge of Chaos Barbed Choker Ancient Qiraji Ripper Barb of the Sand Reaver AQ40 totem/libram/idol Sharpend Silithid Femur Jom Gabbar Larvae of the Great Worm Wormscale Blocker Breastplate of Annihilation Scarab Brooch Ring of Qiraji Fury Ashjre'thul Crossbow of Smiting All Loot off C'thun All Resist gear
2. All non-legendary loot in MC is now open roll regardless of rank (Rolling specs still apply). Anyone of any rank can win any non-legendary piece of loot from Molten Core no matter who rolls.
I also want to put down the Priority List for legendaries at the moment even though it's already pretty well known among members of the guild:
Garr Binding: Casheer
Geddon Binding: --
Eye of Sulfuras: Ragestarved
