A capped account is an account that is without any expansions. Such account will run you $20.00. To get one one you can do one of the following (2nd being the easiest):

1. Run out to the store and get a brand new Vanilla WOW without any expansions.

2. Go to Bliz' site and get a free 10 day trial account and then upgrade it to the regular subscribing account. here is the direct link: https://signup.worldofwarcraft.com/trial/freetrial.html

3. You can also do the "Recruit-A-Friend", with which you get triple EXP and other great benefits. For more info go to http://us.blizzard.com/support/article.xml?articleId=20588.
You do have to be grouped with your friend to get triple EXP and yes, you get triple exp for kills and quest turn ins.

If you are interested in the Recruit-a-Friend, we may be able to pair you up with some of our guildies, but we can't guarantee it, as it is up to the individual.

If you have any questions, post here or contact Panamagreen, Jellyy or Joefanz ingame.

If you don't have a capped account and you want one, you now can!!!

Just call up bliz and they can downgrade your BC or WOLK acct to classic.

phone number is 1-800-592-5499

I've called 2 times now and both times have been told 'no'

They say they will only downgrade it if you have recently upgraded (within the month) and cannot play BC / Wrath due to technical problems. That is what I was told both times.

I even asked 'what if' I were to buy a second account, upgrade it to WotLK, transfer my 60's onto it, and then ask for it to be downgraded, as technically it would still be a fairly new account and should then infact be eligible to be downgraded. Still the answer was no.

Both times I also had them ask their supervisors, which was no help as they only confirmed the answer to be no. I even told them I knew TWO people who have done this now, both you and blunt

only if you want to PVP. you can be on a wolk account and still raid with us as long as you stop xp gains at level 60. once you turn off xp gains however, the PVP ques don't happen anymore. so only classic wow accounts with no expacs on them can pvp at level 60.

The game was already ruined by gearscore, noobs, trade chat, addons, spell power normalization, class nerfs, the celestial steed, all expansions, class buffs, trolls, and the taliban.

I don't think it can be ruined any more.

"I've called 2 times now and both times have been told 'no'"

Ok, so what happened when i called was first time i got some idiot who didnt say no, he just said that downgrading was not something they do. i called back got a friendly girl and she said shed be happy to do it, so i upgraded my old inactive BC acct xfered hawk called in got a different guy. He was cooperative and after telling him my story/reason (i said i ONLY play my lvl 60, and that i dont care about lvl 61-80 content i just wanna pvp) he went and talked with supervisor who gave him the OK.

This is indeed something they can do, i think u need to just keep calling untill u get somebody who isnt an idiot/asshole whatever...

Im pretty sure blunt did the same thing, told them he ONLY players his lvl 60 and just wants to pvp...i really cant help u past this info, gl man i hope to see a 40 man SOP av someday.

So I sent them this e-mail after getting sick and tired of being on hold for 2 hours to simply be told "no" and finally got a decent reply (though it took 3 days to get a response, I'd rather wait 3 days than wait 2 hours on hold with their annoying music)...

Code:
First and foremost, I realize this letter may be somewhat lengthy but part of my reason for writing has to deal with Blizzards customer support / satisfaction and "skimming" over this e-mail and giving me a generalized macro-bound-answer will only server to further annoy and frustrate me.

Information:
Name - David Duenkel
Email - **********
Battle.net Account - *************
Secret Question - *******
Former WoW account - *********

I have recently contacted your Billing & Account Services hotline twice and seem to have gotten the run-around both times, so I will try to state as simply and clearly as I can what it is that I would like to see Blizzard to do for me, the paying customer.

To give a bit of background info, I have a level 60 Priest which currently has its experience gains turned off because I still continue to do the level 60 content. 5-mans, 10-mans, 20-mans, and 40-mans; all of which I do 4+ times a week with my very active level 60 raiding guild (Screams of The Past on US-Draka, over 350 members)

Now, I enjoy PvPing and I would love to be able to queue for a battleground with my fellow guildmates, but because my experience is off I can't PvP with them, or PvP at all. I'm not asking Blizzard to fix the 'exp-off-bg-queues' like many people request. Instead, I would like to have my account downgraded to a Pre-BC, Classic, Vanilla, whatever-youd-like-to-refer-to-it-as WoW account.

Now I KNOW this is possible, because I personally know TWO other people who have already done it, however your staff has told me that "it only possible if you recently upgraded" and also told me "its completely impossible because characters are coded differently in BC and WotLK" ... so how can it be both A) sometimes possible, and B) completely impossible, and C) perfectly possible because my friends have done it?

Now, I DO have a level 80 character on the account as well that I still enjoy playing, so before anything is actually done I would first want to transfer my level 60's to a different account (thus I would have two accounts, two subscriptions, one for my 60's and one for my 80's). I have no problem with doing so, even though it will mean buying a new account, buying BC, and buying WotLK.

This is actually something I mentioned to the staff person I was speaking with on your hotline. After being told that they where unable to downgrade such an old account I asked if I could purchase a new account, upgrade it, and then ask for it to be downgraded since technically it would be a 'new account' and this is when they said 'no' again and told me that because of the different coding it would be impossible to transfer my level 60, even though it is a Human Priest in all Pre-BC gear, enchants, no glyphs, etc...

So to reiterate:
I currently have 1 WotLK account
I want to transfer 2 level 60's to a new Classic WoW account (even if that means buying all the expansions first and downgrading)
I want to keep both accounts active so I can play both my 60's (and have the option to actually PvP when I want) and my 80.

Profit-wise, I would be paying double in what I am paying now for subscription fees, plus the cost of a new WoW account with BC and WotLK, plus the cost of transferring two characters. Now, if you don't want to take my money and decide that 'the customer ISN'T always right' then I am sad to say I will probably end up canceling my account altogether as I have grown bored of the PvE content at 80 and only log on my 80 occasionally to say Hi to friends.

I'll await  your non-generic reply and answer. Thank you for your time.

-David Duenkel

Hello,

My name is Alex. I am with Blizzard Entertainment's billing and account services. Thank you for taking the time to contact me regarding your current issue.

I have reviewed your account and spoke to one of our supervisors concerning your request. It would be possible to downgrade your current account if you still wish to do so. However, there are a few stipulations in downgrading, as this is an exception we normally do not make.

-Downgrading will PERMANENTLY DELETE YOUR UPGRADES. Once downgraded, if you wish to upgrade back to Burning Crusade and Lich King, you would need to purchase the expansions again.

-If your account is downgraded to Classic WoW, all characters that are non-classice races or classes will be unplayable (ie: blood elves, draenei and death knights). These characters will not be deleted, but they will be locked untill the account is upgraded again

If you are ok with these stipulations and would like to downgrade your current account, we can do so via telephone. you can provide me with a phone number to contact you at and best time to reach you. When setting up a time to contact you keep in mind that I am available Sunday - Thursday 11:30am-8:30pm PST.

We may also discuss the option you presented of upgrading a new account to transfer your characters to if you do not wish to downgrade your current account.

Sincerely,

Alex O.

Cool, those stipulations are pretty easy to live with, but they don't make mention of the level 80 character on that account. I would've liked to hear them confirm that they'd wait until you transferred the level 80 to another WotLK account.

Either way thats pretty sweet. I wonder if a well-written email like that would work for me.

I currently have two active accounts, one is classic, one WotLK. I have 3 level 60's on each account for a total of 6. I also have 3 level 80 characters on the WotLK account (and a couple of others). I'd like to transfer the level 60 chars from the Wrath account to the classic account (server change to Draka also) but they don't allow this currently. Its a shame because they are well geared...two of them are very well geared (full GM & Ramparts gear) and are a blast for PvPing.

However, if I followed the precedent set in that email, I'd have to buy a third account and split the 60's and the 80's between them somehow. I'd really rather just have 2 accounts though.

No, he did caspus:

We may also discuss the option you presented of upgrading a new account to transfer your characters to if you do not wish to downgrade your current account.

But I see what you are saying. Its possible you could e-mail them and ask for them to be transferred from WotlK to your Classic account. The option isn't available via their website-transfer dealio, but I'm sure its possible if you request it from the staff personally.

EDIT: also, I took a tip from blunt and basically threatened that if they refuse to do this I'd just up and quit. Apparently even with 11.5 million subscribers that tends to hit home with them.

I JUST downgraded, the guy asked me why I wanted to and stuff, like it was wasting 50$, but then when I said I just wanted to PvP, he was like kay, and did it. The first time I called, I was told that I had been on Wrath too long, so just keep calling.
